Tues 13 December WEEK 3 Production Day 9
The group need a bit more time as alot of the days we were meant to be filming people were ill so we had to postpone the filming. Today i finished the titles and credits. I'd been doing a long of editing, looking for sounds etc. I found some sounds on youtube but steve said i couldn't use them as they'd be copyrighted to the person who uploaded them so i got some from a CD that steve gave me and used track 46.

Se7en Trailer
This trailer shows some of the 'scratchiness' that Abbi wanted to include in our 'Trapped' Video project to make it look more exciting and more than just a student-made film.

Thurs 24 November WEEK 1 Production Day 3
Today we filmed part of the scene that takes place on the pathway between the bathroom and the forest where Cassie and Abbi ask which path to go down. The problem is when we filmed the footage it was quite dark so it therefore made what we captured quite dark.

Weds 23 November WEEK 1 Production Day 2
Today Richard was a bit late so we decided to try out some light painting so we did it in a classroom which was too bright so we did it in the hall instead.
Weds 23 November WEEK 1 Production Day 2
Today we were going to go out and film the first scene but Cassie and Richard were slightly late and so instead Abbi decided to do some light painting for the opening sequence and i took pictures for the blog. First we did it in the classroom but it wasn't dark enough so we did behind a curtain on a stage in the hall.
Tues 22 November WEEK 1 Production Day 1
Today Abbi and Cassie researched about light painting and Abbi found a video which is the reason why she wants to do it.

Locations for 'Trapped'
During this session we picked to have one of the locations in a bathroom since we couldn't find a building that looked like a house. So Cassie and Abbi are getting ready for a part in the bathroom. Then we have a path where there is two ways to go, either a longer way to the party but it is safer or one that leads straight through the woods but is easy to get lost.
The third location is in the woods where the most action and development takes place. and that is where the short film ends.

'Trapped' Target Audience Member
For this task we picked a particular target audience member and searched for the different TV Shows, music, brands and games that would associate with them.
I think this target audience member would listen too dubstep or possibly music from the charts, watch shows comedies like Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory or something made for teenagers such as The Inbetweeners. I would think that this target audience member would watch either a horror film such as Friday the 13th or a comedy film such as Johnny English. Its most likely that this target audience member would use the internet for Facebook, and YouTube.

'Trapped' Initial Planning
My initial ideas for the short 'Trapped' film was in the beginning someone (either a student, teacher, or caretaker) is still at school after it has finished on a Friday. The person then goes to get something from a cupboard but while in there the door closes by itself and is locked from the outside so the person has to wait for someone to come and unlock the door. Since it is a Friday the person will have to wait until monday to be rescued.
In the middle the trapped person had to figure out how to survive without food or water and almost no space to move. The new head teacher comes in to have a look at the school and the trapped person hears this and attempts to make noise so they can be heard but it doesn't work and the new head teacher walks away not knowing about the trapped person.
In the end somebody come into school on a monday morning and hears the person shouting but doesn't know what it could be so they open the door, let the person out and the person runs off.
The group's initial idea was to have a group of young people that are going to a party, in the beginning, drinking and having fun.
In the middle the group get lost in the woods and realise that someone is chasing them and planning on killing them.
In the end someone from the group gets dragged of but you don't see the killer and you never find out what happen to get group.

Rosie Ball's Visit
What we thought was going to have a regular lesson but we were visited by games designer and BAFTA nominee Rosie Ball who came to tell us about what she'd done since leaving university and how being at Long Road helped her with other things including work at university and winning in her competition and possibly winning a BAFTA.
This it the link to her website.

Final New York Titles Sequence
Once I had put the new york sequence with the soundtrack I made I then had add credits using final cut. When I finished I exported it and uploaded it to Vimeo

New York Garageband Soundtrack Session
I put the new york final cut sequence into garageband and made a song to have as a soundtrack in the background of the New York sequence. Once I finished the soundtrack I removed the new york sequence and then save the soundtrack and add it to the new york sequence using final cut
New York Final Cut Editing Session
I was given a selection on clips of new york and had to go on final cut to edit these clips anyway i liked to make approximately 1 minute and eventually it would look like the opening sequence of a movie.

Logo ident production session
In this session i took my rough logo design and made it in Photoshop using an image of a plasma TV with the words 'Sam Productions' on screen. When i had finished i exported each individual layer and am planning to import into final cut and have the two words fly at the viewer as it it was a 3DTV.
The most difficult thing about working in photoshop is trying to work out what buttons do what job and how to do certain thngs with the age(e.g. scale the image down). I eventually figured how to do it and became more confident with what i was doing.
I haven't used final cut yet so i cannot say much about it at the moment.
I am pleased that although my logo isn't the best looking one I am proud of what i did as it took me alot of time to work on it.

Media production company logo planning session
This was a slighly less complicated task, probably the easiest so far, where we were shown a customised logo created by Steve, after seeing his we were given some paper to do our own and I had many ideas and eventually had the idea to have the words 'Sam Productions' diplayed on a 3D TV and then suddenly it comes out of the TV as i love 3D movies.
Logo research session
First of all we were shown logos of various well-known companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Nike and were told to go and search for 2 logos that we like, i picked Sony and Facebook. I had to write information such as company name and what it does and then I had to draw both logos and annotate it, writing and font, colour, size and shape. Then I had to write what i thought the design elements might suggest.
Photoshop Skills Session 1: Club Flyer Task
In this session i went to search for two images on Flikr to have as the background for my club flyer but these two images had to be made into one using Photoshop. The first image just had 'DUBSTEP' written on it with smaller vesions of the word within the word itself, the second was the symbol of a musical note. Just like the first session this involved opening the two images in Photoshop and using the layers and making one image. I had to move the image around and scale them down to fit and then i had to write down a few details including special offers and the name of the club. The club i decided to create was called Dubstep and Stuff with dubstep being the major genre of music and other songs being selected from the top 40 songs in the chart. This is the end result.
Photoshop Skills Session1: Earth & Eye Exercise
In this session I went on the Flikr to get two images one of the earth and one of an eye. Using photoshop i opened both images and did various things such as remove the black background from the earth and scale the earth down in size. I put them both on the same page and using individual layers to create one image. The end result looks like this.
